Congo Watermelon Seeds Organic

This open pollinated Congo watermelon has some of the highest sugary content yielding super-sweet, giant fruit weighing up to 50 pounds. Congo needs room to stretch and grow. The flesh is firm, medium red with a thick rind giving it an unsurpassed taste. It thrives in warm summers with soil that drains well. 
Congo watermelon originated in Egypt from King Tut's tomb to ships even in ancient China proving how popular this watermelons popularity.

    Germination: 5-10 days
    Maturity: 90 days

    Sow  ½-1” deep in full sun after last frost or start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to last frost. Harden off seedlings before planting. Watermelon seedlings are sensitive and best to directly sow. 
    Sow seeds 6” apart. Space plants 18” apart in rows 6-8’ apart.

Planting Seeds:
Sow inside 4-6 weeks before last frost OR  direct seed in the garden.  Sow in garden when temperatures are warm. 

When to harvest:
When  the bottom side of the melon where it lies on the ground turns from light green to a yellowish in color. The curly tendrils on the stem near the point of attachment turns brown
